I thought it would be interesting to post some information about the recent events happening in the North with Caverswall castle.

Caverwall castle has recently been placed into liquidation by the owner of the castle Robin MacDonald, Since closing, the 13th century castle has left dozens of wedding couples without a venue and has since been put up for sale.

Mr MacDonald purchased the castle in 2006 for £2 million. He then offered the venue for weddings and receptions.

The problems was, Robin MacDonald did no have the planning permission by the council to use the venue for weddings and receptions. Several applications for planning were always refused.

The 39 year old businessman has pledged to help any affected couples but this is yet to be seen. Many owners have been left out of pocket by up to £10,000 and above and had their big days ruined. It is understood that more than 50 couples have booked the castle for events over the next 18 months.
